South Florida businesses band together for 'Small Business Saturday'

South Florida businesses have banded together to promote next Saturday as "Small Business Saturday." The aim is to encourage holiday shoppers to stop by locally owned businesses before they visit Walmart, Target, Best Buy and the like.

Florida is 3rd in veteran-owned businesses, but what does that mean?

About a decade ago, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush told the state legislature he saw Florida becoming one of the country's biotech hubs. At the time, it was a little hard to envision Florida as a hotspot for bioscience and biotech companies, but now, almost 10 years later, that idea seems far less far-fetched.
