Fresh to Order to open in Orlando's Waterford Lakes in 2014

Fresh to Order, a higher-end fast-casual restaurant, will open a new location in Orlando's Waterford Lakes Town Center sometme in early 2014, it was learned this week.

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain sells pizza, paninis, soups, salad and burgers. It has worked to differentiate itself from other fast-casual restaurants by offering gluten-free and vegan options.

The Waterford Lakes location will be the first Fresh to Order location in Florida.

Fresh to Order was founded in 2006. Lately, it has been trying to expand its reach by opening franchise locations in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

Franchise agreements with fairly new ventures, like Fresh to Order, can sometimes be risky propositions. On one hand, they offer a chance to get in on the ground level, so to speak, before a chain really takes off and becomes popular. On the other hand, there is always the risk that the concept will fizzle and never catch on with the public. As is the case with any business proposition, there is some degree of risk with these agreements.

If you are interested in becoming a franchisor -- of this or any other chain -- it might be a good idea to seek legal advice early on in the process. Franchise agreements are not always straightforward, and having an experienced and knowledgable source of advice can be a very valuable resource. It would be a shame if a potentially advantageous business deal did not come to fruition because you did not have the right assistance.
